Northern Ruud is mostly frigid marshlands and mountains, and much of the area is unexplored and unclaimed by human society. All major human cities are along the coast of the Tarmane Sea. Wild beasts and savages inhabit most of the Dread Marsh, but several of the unruly races have moved southward to uneasily coexist with humans in the cities. The humans of Ruud are easily going fishermen and farmers, loosely organized into a true communist collective. In times of war, Ruudans retreat further inland, where the rough terrain acts as a first line of defense against invaders.
